Tournament time again for county teams

Sallisaw, Muldrow, Roland and Vian’s high school basketball teams start play in their final tournaments of the regular season Thursday.

Sallisaw, Muldrow, Roland and Vian’s high school basketball teams start play in their final tournaments of the regular season Thursday.

Central, Gore and Gans’ teams are competing in Porum’s Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament, which got underway Monday.

Webbers Falls has already finished its tournament schedule for the regular season.

SALLISAW GIRLS

The Class 4A Lady Diamonds (9-3 overall) play 4A Skiatook (5-8) at 10 a.m. Thursday in their Pryor Invitational Tournament opener.

On Friday the Sallisaw-Skiatook winner meets the Berryhill-Oologah winner at 4 p.m. and the losers play at 1 p.m.

On the other side of the girls’ bracket are top-seeded Pryor, Sequoyah Claremore, Vinita and Ketchum.

On Saturday girls’ championship (7 p.m.), t h i r d place (4 p.m.), consolation championship (1 p.m.) and seventh place (10 a.m.) contests will be held.

The Class 4A Black Diamonds (5-7 overall) take on 4A Oologah (4-9) at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in their first game of the Pryor Invitational Tournament.

On Friday the Sallisaw-Oologah winner meets the Pryor-Ketchum winner at 5:30 p.m. and the losers play at 2:30 p.m.

On the other side of the boys’ bracket are top-seeded Sequoyah Claremore, Skiatook, Berryhill and Vinita.

Boys’ championship (8:30 p.m.), third place (5:30 p.m.), consolation championship (2:30 p.m.) and seventh place (11:30 a.m.) contests are scheduled for Saturday.

MULDROW GIRLS

The Class 4A ninth-ranked Lady Bulldogs (111 overall) are the girls’ top seed in the Checotah Crossroads Classic.

Muldrow takes on Bridge Creek (3-10) at 7 p.m. Thursday inside the Checotah Event Center and on Friday the Muldrow-Bridge Creek winner plays the Stigler-East Central winner at 7 p.m. and the losers meet at the same time Friday inside Truman Dixon Fieldhouse.

On the other side of the girls’ bracket are second-seeded and No. 10 Wagoner, Checotah, Eufaula and Keys.

On Saturday girls’ championship (5:30 p.m.), third place (2:30 p.m.) and consolation championship (11:30 p.m.) games will be held at the Event Center.

MULDROW BOYS

The Class 4A No. 20 Bulldogs (9-3 overall) are seeded second in the Checotah Crossroads Classic.

Muldrow plays Checotah (6-7) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday inside the Event Center in its first tournament contest and on Friday the Muldrow-Checotah winner meets the Bridge Creek-East Central winner at 8:30 p.m. and the losers play at 8:30 p.m. at Truman Dixon Fieldhouse.

Making up the other side of the boys’ bracket are topseeded Keys, Stigler, Eufaula and Wagoner.

On Saturday boys’ championship (7 p.m.), third place (4 p.m.) and consolation championship (1 p.m.) contests will be played.

ROLAND GIRLS

The Class 3A No. 15 Lady Rangers (7-5 overall) play 5A No. 19 Coweta (6-6) in their opener at Fort Gibson’s Old Fort Classic at 3:50 p.m. Thursday.

On Friday the Roland-Coweta winner takes on the Inola-Nathan Hale winner at 3:50 p.m. and the losers meet at 10:30 a.m. Class 4A No. 17 Inola (8-3) is the girls’ top seed.

Other girls’ teams in the tournament are Fort Gibson, Cushing, Stilwell and Okay.

On Saturday girls’ championship (7 p.m.), third place (4 p.m.), consolation championship (1 p.m.) and seventh place (10 a.m.) games will be played.

ROLAND BOYS

The Class 3A fifth-ranked Rangers (11-1) return to the NEO Tournament in Miami and Roland starts tournament action at 4:30 p.m. Thursday when it plays 2A Afton (6-6) inside College Gymnasium on the campus of Northeaster Oklahoma A&M College.

The Rangers are the top seed in the Norse Boys division.

On Friday the Roland-Afton winner takes on the Fairland-Miami winner at 6 p.m. at the Student Activity Center and the losers play at noon. Former Lady Rangers’ head coach Bobby Walters coaches Fairland.

Other boys’ teams in the Norse Bracket are Commerce, Quapaw, Nowata and Wyandotte.

On Saturday boys’ championship (9 p.m.), third place (6 p.m.), fifth place (1:30 p.m.) and seventh place (noon) games will be played.

VIAN GIRLS

The Class 3A Lady Wolverines (4-8 overall) take on top-seeded and 3A thirdranked Bethel (11-2) at 4 p.m. Thursday in their Kellyville Tournament opener.

On Friday the Vian-Bethel winners plays the Adair-Ripley winner at 4 p.m. and the losers meet at 10 a.m.

Other teams in the girls’ bracket are Bristow, Colcord, Kellyville and Oktaha.

On Saturday the girls’ championship (7 p.m.), third place (4 p.m.), consolation championship (1 p.m.) and seventh place (10 a.m.) games will be held.

VIAN BOYS

The Class 3A Wolverines (6-5 overall) play 2A No. 8 Colcord in their first game of the Kellyville Tournament at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Friday the Vian-Colcord winner takes on the Adair-Oktaha winner at 5:30 p.m. and the losers play at 11:30 a.m.

Other teams in the boys’ bracket are Kellyville, Bristow, Ripley and Bethel.

Boys’ championship (8:30 p.m.), third place (5:30 p.m.), consolation championship (2:30 p.m.) and seventh place (11:30 a.m.) contests are scheduled for Saturday.

CENTRAL AND GORE GIRLS

The Class 2A Lady Tigers (5-7 overall) take on the Class A Gore Lady Pirates (16) at 4 p.m. Wednesday in their Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament opener at Porum.

On Thursday the Central-Gore winner meets the Keota-Graham-Dustin winner at 4 p.m. and the losers play at 4 p.m. Friday.

Other teams in the girls’ bracket are Gans, Quinton, Porum and Midway.

Girls’ championship (7 p.m.), third place (4 p.m.) and consolation championship (1 p.m.) are slated for Saturday.

CENTRAL BOYS

The Class 2A Tigers (3-8 overall) played Class B Graham-Dustin (5-8) in their first tournament game at Porum Tuesday.

The Central-Graham-Dustin winner takes on the Quinton-Porum winner at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and the losers plays at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

On the other side of the boys’ bracket are top-seeded Gore, Gans, Midway and Keota.

Championship (8:30 p.m.), third place (5:30 p.m.), consolation championship (2:30 p.m.) and seventh place (11 a.m.) contests are scheduled for Saturday.

GORE BOYS

The Class A Pirates (7-3 overall) started tournament action at Porum Monday with a 57-24 win over Class B Midway (1-8). Gore takes on the Gans-Keota winner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in one of the semifinal games. Central, Graham-Dustin, Quinton and Porum are on the opposite side of the boys’ bracket. Boys’ championship (8:30 p.m.), third place (5:30 p.m.) and consolation championship (2:30 p.m.) and seventh place (11 a.m.) games are scheduled for Saturday.

GANS GIRLS

The Class A Lady Grizzlies (4-8 overall) played Class A Quinton (11-3) in their first tournament game at Porum Tuesday.

The Gans-Quinton winner meets the Porum-Midway winner at 7 p.m. Thursday and the losers play at 7 p.m. Friday.

On the others side of the girls’ bracket are top-seeded Keota, Central, Gore and Graham-Dustin.

Championship (7 p.m.), third place (4 p.m.) and consolation championship (1 p.m.) contests are slated for Saturday.

GANS BOYS

The Class A Grizzlies (2-7 overall) took on Class A Keota (4-6) in their tournament opener at Porum Monday night. The Gans-Keota winner plays Gore, a 57-24 winner over Midway, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and the loser meets Midway at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Other boys’ teams in the tournament are Central, Quinton, Porum and Graham-Dustin. On Saturday championship (8:30 p.m.), third place (5:30 p.m.), consolation championship (2:30 p.m.) and seventh place (11 a.m.) games will be played.
