Lady Tigers finish 3rd at Porum tournament

PORUM — Camber Bair scored a gamehigh 24 points to lead Central to a 49-34 victory Saturday to finish third in the Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament.

PORUM — Camber Bair scored a gamehigh 24 points to lead Central to a 49-34 victory Saturday to finish third in the Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament.

CENTRAL 49, PORUM 34

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 15-8 lead,with Bair scoring 10 of the 15 points in the first quarter.

Central turned back a determined Porum surge in the second stanza, and increased its lead to 26-14 by halftime.

After intermission, the Lady Panthers outscored Central, 11-10, in the third period. But Central controlled the fourth

frame to control its destiny and earn the third-place finish.

Complementing Bair’s scoring honors for Central were Ayrland Jiles with 10 points and Hadlie Woods with nine. Porum was led by Kylie Smith with nine points.

Keota 54, Central 52

PORUM — A gallant effort fell short for Central at the Cross Telephone Invitational Tournament, as the Lady Tigers bowed to Keota, 54-52, in Thursday’s action. The Class A Lady Tigers started on the right foot, with Avery Warner scoring seven of the team’s 14 points to post Central to a 14-9 advantage by the end of the first quarter.

In the second stanza, the Class B Lady Lions outscored Central, 13-11, behind seven points from Chloee Smith that cut Central’s lead to three points by halftime.

Smith added another eight points for Keota in the third period as the Lady Lions forged a 34-33 edge heading down the stretch.

The Lady Lions’ offense was able to outmaneuver the Lady Tigers’ defense in the fourth frame, and sent Central into the consolation bracket with the 54-52 verdict.

Cambree Bair led Central with a gamehigh 23 points, and Smith had 20 points for Keota.
