In a renewal of the Class A rivalry that is always an exciting game, Webbers Falls picked up its 12th win in 15 outings Friday, beating Dewar, 39-33.

WEBBERS FALLS 39, DEWAR 33 Webbers Falls (12-3) fell behind 7-6 to start the game, with Anistyn Garner making two three-pointers to keep her team in the game.

In the third quarter it was more of the same, as Webbers Falls increased its lead to 10 points.

The fourth frame turned into a freefor all, with 17 foul shots between the teams. Dewar (11-6) outscored its hosts down the stretch, but it was too little too late, as Webbers Falls registered the six-point win.

The game’s leading scorer was Teralynn Colston with 14 points, followed by Samatha Griffith with nine for Webbers Falls. For the Lady Dragons, Maikya Carter scored 12 points and Melanie Burney had 10 points.

KINTA – Despite an 18-point outburst by Anistyn Garner, Webbers Falls was unable to turn back the determined Kinta Lady Eagles, bowing Thursday on the road, 39-35.

The Lady Warriors (11-3) managed an early lead in the first quarter, behind 5 points each by Garner and Samantha Grittith.

Starting in the second stanza, Kinta started its long trek back to cut its deficit to 20-18 by halftime.

The Lady Eagles (9-9) continued to close the gap in the third period, forging a 31-30 edge heading into the final quarter.

The Webbers Falls offense struggled and the defense didn’t get the stops it needed in the fourth frame, as Kinta outdistanced Webbers Falls for the narrow upset victory.

Garner paced the Lady Warriors with 18 points, which Kinta notched 22 points by its talented offensive leader, Kodie Oldham.
