Superintendent evaluation conducted in executive session
The Vian Board of Education met on Jan. 9 where it conducted an evaluation of Superintendent Victor Salcedo and approved various other items during January’s regular monthly meeting.
The Vian Board of Education met on Jan. 9 where it conducted an evaluation of Superintendent Victor Salcedo and approved various other items during January’s regular monthly meeting.
The board voted to go into executive session at 7:27 p.m. to discuss and conduct an evaluation of Salcedo and voted to return to open session at 9:23 p.m. Board president Ed Barton then gave a statement of executive session minutes but the statement was not included in meeting minutes.
During the Superintendent Report, Salcedo spoke on Board Appreciation Month, the high school project, accreditation, the new gym foundation, and Jan. 30 board training.
The board approved Valedictorian and Salutatorian requirements, which will go into effect for the 2024-25 school year, along with extracurricular eligibility requirements.
Encumbrances #495-515 and changes for a net increase of $62,362.64 within the 202223 General Funds were approved, with no changes to the 2022-23 Building Fund or Sinking Fund.
Also approved by the board during the meeting were the following:
• District capacity numbers/ transfer vacancies effective Jan. 9
• Activity Fund transfers
• Annual 2023-24 school calendar • School Covid testing procedures • Surplus items
• $750 stipend for the color guard/majorette coach
• Approved fundraiser requests for FCCLA
