The town of Vian passed a resolution on Dec. 19 declaring a nonpartisan general election for the purpose of electing four board of trustees in April.

According to the legal publication, the resolution was filed with the Sequoyah County Election Board on Jan. 5. The legal publication also states that absentee ballots will be provided in accordance with state law.

The filing period will begin at 8 a.m. on Feb. 6 and close at 5 p.m. on Feb. 8, with the election will be held on Tuesday, April 4.

The trustees to be elected are nominated at large and elected at large. Each candidate must be a qualified elector by virtue of being a resident and registered voter within town of Vian limits for at least six months prior to filing a declaration of candidacy.

Three of the four board seats will be elected to fill four-year terms, to expire in 2027. The other board of trustee seat will expire in 2025.
