Wreck victim’s identity remains under investigation
The identity of a victim involved in a fatality collision on Jan. 20 on Interstate-40, three miles west of Muldrow, remains under investigation as of press time Tuesday afternoon.

According to an accident report issued by Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the name of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification by the Medical Examiner.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Joa’n Alverez #210, of the Sequoyah County Detachment of Troop C, reported an unknown make and model truck was traveling westbound on I-40 around 4:19 p.m. when it rear-ended a 2021 Volkswagen Atlas, traveling in the same direction.
Alverez said the truck then departed the roadway to the left, struck the cable barrier and traveled down the cable barrier approximately 120 yards before coming to a rest. The trooper said the truck then ignited and burned completely.
The driver of the truck was pinned for about two hours and 11 minutes and pronounced deceased from massive injuries received in the collision.
Alverez was assisted by Lt. Sheldon Dobbs and Trooper Jordan Galvan of Troop C, along with members of Pafford EMS, Muldrow Fire and Police Departments, and Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.
