Residents to resume ‘Operation Peter Cottontail’

By Annette Crowder

Hello and welcome to our news. It’s been another busy week at the home and we are all anticipating the big snows that are supposed to head our way. Residents have plans to make snow ice cream. (Update: the snows were much lighter than expected, so no snow ice cream this time, but hopefully we get another chance.)

Vian Nursing and Rehab

Hello and welcome to our news. It’s been another busy week at the home and we are all anticipating the big snows that are supposed to head our way. Residents have plans to make snow ice cream. (Update: the snows were much lighter than expected, so no snow ice cream this time, but hopefully we get another chance.)

We made our very own oatmeal cream pies this week, which was a lot of fun. We baked the cookies and each resident did their own fillings, and of course there were none left. Today we are making homemade chili for frito chili pies. The residents really enjoy cooking and have a lot of fun in the kitchen, and what’s better in the cold winter months than baking and cooking.

The residents made beautiful beaded bracelets and earrings last week, some to keep and some to share with their loved ones for Valentine’s Day, birthdays or just to say “I love you.”

The resident council has asked if we could resume operation “Peter Cottontail” as we had to stop during COVID. So we will be making baskets for the elementary school at Vian this Easter. The residents will be making washcloth bunnies for each basket and we of course will fill them full of goodies. We will need a little help however, so we are looking for donations of Easter baskets, plastic eggs, candy, Easter grass, small toys, etc. Please drop off donations to the nursing home by April 3. If you have any questions please call Annette at 918-773-5258.

We will be entertained by Oklahoma Moon on Friday at 1 p.m. and the residents are so excited, as they put on quite a show. What a great way to end the month.

Well, I best get busy, it’s time to cook, so until next time, God bless…Annette.
