Crowder goes home empty-handed vs. Webbers Falls

Jaxon Swearingen, Maddux Shelby and Stryker Chappel combined for 43 points Saturday to fuel the Webbers Falls Warriors to a down-to-the-wire victory, while Teralynn Colston and Samantha Griffith scored 13 points apiece as the Lady Warriors cruised to a convincing win.

WEBBERS FALLS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

Jaxon Swearingen, Maddux Shelby and Stryker Chappel combined for 43 points Saturday to fuel the Webbers Falls Warriors to a down-to-the-wire victory, while Teralynn Colston and Samantha Griffith scored 13 points apiece as the Lady Warriors cruised to a convincing win.

Webbers Falls 54, Crowder 53 The Warriors trailed the Demons by a lone point by the end of the first quarter, but Webbers Falls responded for a 26-23 advantage by halftime.

But the Demons were able to start the second half strong, outscoring the Warriors 14-11 to level the score at 37 going into the fourth frame.

With the game on the line and with help of multiple free throws by Shelby and Chappel, the Warriors were able to pull ahead by a point by the final buzzer for the heartstopping win.

CROWDER 12 11 14 16 – 53 WEBBERS FALLS 11 15 11 17 – 54 WEBBERS FALLS – Jaxon Swearingen 15, Maddux Shelby 14, Stryker Chappel 14, Luke Pierce 5, Riley Ogg 4, Elliot Kunkel 2.

Webbers Falls 43, Crowder 29 The Lady Warriors jumped out to an insurmountable lead in both the first and second quarters and never looked back ernoute to a 14-point victory.

The Lady Demons’ offense struggled from the tipoff, with the Lady Warriors forging a 14-4 lead in the first q u a r t e r , and building a 28-9 cushion by intermission.

The teams played on equal footing in the second half, although the Lady Demons managed to outscore their hosts by a point in the third period and four points in the final frame.

CROWDER 4 5 11 9 – 29 WEBBERS FALLS 14 14 10 5 – 43 WEBBERS FALLS – Teralynn Colston 13, Samatha Griffith 13, Anistyn Garner 9, Bridgette Baer 8.
