Muldrow sweeps Checotah in homecomings games

Muldrow boys 55, Checotah 51

In the first NOAA game Friday night the Bulldogs (106 overall) snapped a four-game losing steak by defeating the Wildcats (7-10).

Muldrow’s Trenden Collins and Jaxson Anstine scored seven and three points, respectively, in the opening period but Checotah went in front 13-12.

The Bulldogs erased the deficit in the second quarter by outscoring the Wildcats 189. Colton Pulliam hit a pair of 3-pointers and Kenoy Releford and Collins added five points apiece for the Bulldogs, who led 30-22 at the intermission.

In the third stanza Collins and Parker Sevenstar (6 points apiece) each made a 3-pointer and Muldrow added a point (1514) to its advantage.

Muldrow’s Andrew Luttrell totaled five points and Collins went 4-for-4 at the foul line in the final eight minutes but the Wildcats trimmed three points (14-11) off the deficit.

Collins knocked down three 3-pointers and scored a teamhigh 22 points in the game and also recording points for the Bulldogs were Luttrell (9 points), Sevenstar (8), Releford (7), Pulliam (6) and Anstine (3).

Maddox Bridges (28 points) and Tyler Orman (16) were Checotah’s top two scorers in the contest.

Muldrow girls 60, Checotah 28

The Class 4A No. 11 Lady Bulldogs (14-3 overall) downed the Lady Wildcats (5-9) in the evening’s second game Friday after outscoring the visitors 25-5 in the second stanza of the conference game.

Behind the scoring of Kennedi Wight (5 points) and Cailey Grinstead (3-pointer) the Lady Bulldogs led 10-5 after the first eight minutes.

In the second period Muldrow added 20 points to its advantage to lead 35-10 at the half and its leading scorers were Wight (8 points), Claire Tabor and Grinstead (6 each) and Katelynn Moore (3).

The Lady Bulldogs increased their lead in the third (17-11) and fourth (8-7) quarters. Tabor and Maysi Fields (3 points apiece) led Muldrow in scoring in the third period.

Wight (15 points) was the game’s leading scorer and also registering points for Muldrow were Grinstead (10), Tabor (9), Lani Israel and Mason Anstine (4 each), Katelynn Moore and Maysi Fields (3 apiece), Carmen Fields, Dri Rogers, Kennady Moore, Addison Allen and Emmalee Short (2 each) and Makynlee Morton and Jensi Fields (1 apiece).

JaiCee Lester led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with eight points.
