Richey, Casebolt take titles at Maverick Conference Tourney

Vian’s Avery Richey and Sallisaw’s Mattix Casebolt won Maverick Conference Tournament individual championships last week in Henryetta and four other county wrestlers placed second.

Vian’s Avery Richey and Sallisaw’s Mattix Casebolt won Maverick Conference Tournament individual championships last week in Henryetta and four other county wrestlers placed second.

Richey won the girls’ 135-140 pound title and Casebolt was the boys’ champion at 113.

Vian boys’ Gunner Richey (126 pounds), Brandon Lamar (132) and Nicolas Scoggins (215) and Sallisaw’s Bodie Adams (175) each placed second in the tournament, which was held Friday and Saturday.

The Wolverines’ Jordan Morris (106) finished fourth and Lane Jameson (190) and Gore’s Cas Moore (285) and Sallisaw’s Kolten Riggs (175) also competed in the tournament.

Wagoner won the boys’ team title with 156 points, Vian was eighth (66), Sallisaw finished 11th (41.5) and Gore placed 17th (8). On the girls’ side Poteau was crowned champion with 29 points and the Lady Wolverines were fourth with 22 points.
