MCCURTAIN — Class B McCurtain proved too much for the Class A Webbers Falls to handle on the road Friday, with the Warriors and the Lady Warriors coming out on the short end in the twinbill.

McCurtain 45, Webbers Falls 38 The McCurtain Lady Bulldogs (13-6) are first in their district, and it showed against the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors (13-3), who are also first in their district.

In a hard-fought game that on paper looked like a pretty even match, the Lady Warriors and the game’s top scorer, Anistyn Garner with 21 points on the night, couldn’t keep up with their hosts in the second half.

In the first quarter, the Lady Warriors slipped to a 12-9 deficit, but Webbers Falls’ defense answered with a strong performance in the second stanza, allowing McCurtain only one bucket enroute to an 18-14 advantage by halftime.

But in the second half, McCurtain responded to forge a 30-29 edge by the end of the third period, then outdistanced the Lady Warriors in the fourth frame for the 45-38 final.

McCurtain’s top scorer was Avrie Ford with 15 points.
