Muldrow downs Sallisaw at home in NOAA action

Muldrow defeated Sallisaw in a pair of Northeastern Oklahoma Athletic Association (NOAA) contests Friday night inside the Roger Sharp Activity Center.

Muldrow defeated Sallisaw in a pair of Northeastern Oklahoma Athletic Association (NOAA) contests Friday night inside the Roger Sharp Activity Center.

MULDROW GIRLS 46, SALLISAW 34

Muldrow’s Kennedi Wight scored a game-high 33 points Friday night as the Class 4A No. 11 Lady Bulldogs (15-3) defeated Sallisaw (11-6) in an NOAA game at Muldrow.

In the opening period Wight (3-pointer and 8 points) and Mason Anstine (5 points) provided the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs, who went in front 13-12. Molly Carver hit a pair of 3-pointers for the Lady Diamonds in the quarter.

Each team registered six points in the second stanza and the Lady Bulldogs led 19-18 at the intermission.

Muldrow added eight points (14-6) to its advantage (33-24) in the third quarter. Wight (pair of 3-pointers) accounted for all of the Lady Bulldogs’ points and Kayli Macon led Sallisaw with four. Wight totaled nine points in the final eight minutes and Carver recorded three of her team-high 12 points.

Trailing Wight in scoring for Muldrow were Anstine (7 points) and Lani Israel and Claire Tabor (2 each).

Trailing Carver in scoring for Sallisaw were Macon (8 points), Addyson Gream (6), Ellie Martin (5), Emma Martin (2) and Hannah Palmer (1).

MULDROW BOYS 65, SALLISAW 61

Muldrow seniors Trenden Collins and Andrew Luttrell recorded 22 points apiece Friday night at home as the Bulldogs (11-6) edged the Black Diamonds (7-10) in a conference contest.

In the first frame Collins (7 points), Luttrell and Kashan Buhkari (5 each) helped the Bulldogs take a 19-18 lead. Max Stump totaled nine points and Kam Dill made a 3-pointer for the Black Diamonds in the period.

Both teams registered nine points in the second quarter and Collins (4 points) and Jaxson Anstine (4) and Sallisaw’s Parker Jackson (two 3-pointers) and Stump (one trey) led their respective teams in scoring.

The Bulldogs led 28-27 at the half. Muldrow increased (17-15) its advantage in the third period and Luttrell (7 points) and Collins (6) each hit a 3-pointer while Sim Kilpatrick registered eight points and Dill added three for Sallisaw, which entered the fourth trailing 45-42.

Behind the scoring of Luttrell (10 points), Trenden Collins (5) and Teaguen Collins (3-pointer) the Bulldogs outscored Sallisaw 20-19 in the fourth quarter. Kilpatrick (7 points), Cooper Jackson (4) and Dill (trey) were Sallisaw’s top scorers in the fourth.

Trailing Trenden Collins and Luttrell in scoring for Muldrow in the game were Buhkari and Anstine (5 points apiece), Drew Prewett (4), Teaguen Collins (3) and Kenoy Releford and Parker Sevenstar (2 each).

Scoring for Sallisaw were Kilpatrick (17 points), Stump (16), Dill (9), Parker Jackson (9), Cooper Jackson and Cooper Cox (4 each) and Broderick Cameron (3).
