Pirates register 8th-straight win against Haskell

The Gore boys registered their eighth-straight win Saturday inside the Gore Event Center with their win over the Class 2A Haymakers after the Lady Pirates lost to Haskell in the girls’ non-conference game.

The Gore boys registered their eighth-straight win Saturday inside the Gore Event Center with their win over the Class 2A Haymakers after the Lady Pirates lost to Haskell in the girls’ non-conference game.

HASKELL GIRLS 62, GORE 22

The Lady Haymakers (13-7 overall) outscored Gore (5-10) 22-11 in the opening stanza Saturday on their way to the non-conference win over the Lady Pirates.

Scoring for the Lady Pirates in the game were Kennedy Williams (10 points), Lindsey Pierce (4), Oaklei Thornton, Natalie Casteel and Emily Daily (2 each) and Andi Summerlin and Rayleigh Moore (1 apiece).

GORE BOYS 71, HASKELL 47

The Pirates improved to 14-3 for the season Saturday at home after defeating the Haymakers (3-16) in the nonconference contest.

Gore led 17-6 after the first eight minutes before adding to its advantage in the second (21-15), third (15-11) and fourth (18-15) quarters.

Scoring for the Pirates in the game were Noah Cooper (24 points), Jackson Duke (17), Aidan Dickerson (10), Keigan Reid (8), Ben Kirkpatrick and Journey Shells (4 each) and Bryon McDuffie and Cain Cooper (2 each).
