The Vian boys defeated Central Saturday inside Traw Fieldhouse after the Lady Wolverines fell to the Lady Tigers in Big 8 Conference action.
CENTRAL GIRLS 45, VIAN 22
The Lady Wolverines (5-13 overall) led 9-8 at the end of the opening period but Central (11-8) outscored Vian in the final three frames to take the conference win.
The Lady Tigers outscored Vian in the second (10-5), third (7-1) and fourth (20-7) periods.
Scoring for Central in the contest were Cambree Bair (16 points), Avery Warner and Ayrland Jiles (7 each), Hadlie Woods (6), Haley Cheek (3), Alyssa Harris and Autumn Cernicek (2 apiece) and Brianna Taylor (1). Providing Vian’s points were Avery Wright (5 points), Rayleigh Terrill and Kiah Richardson (4 each), Maci Smith (3), Kala Gibbins and Halli Russell (2 apiece) and Skyelar Locust (1).
VIAN BOYS 58, CENTRAL 48
The Wolverines (8-7 overall) outscored the Tigers (5-13) 21-8 in the third quarter on their way to the conference victory Saturday in Vian.
Vian led 15-8 after the first eight minutes but Central trimmed six points (15-9) off the deficit in the second stanza to trail 24-23 at the break. The Wolverines took a 14-point advantage (45-31) to the final frame before the Tigers outscored Vian 17-13 in the fourth.
Scoring for Vian in the game were Yonsi Grass (28 points), K’den Richardson (14), Diego Ramos (10), Masyn Wright (4) and Elijah Stewart (2).
Scoring for Central were Hardy Buzzard (13 points), Isaac Rogers (10), Aidan Sainer and Devon Baggs (6 each), Cade Tucker (5) and Connor Walters and Noah Buzzard (4 apiece).
