Muldrow registers two NOAA wins at Poteau

Muldrow’s high school basketball teams registered a pair of Northeastern Oklahoma Athletic Association (NOAA) wins at Poteau Thursday night. The games were originally scheduled for Jan. 24.

Muldrow’s high school basketball teams registered a pair of Northeastern Oklahoma Athletic Association (NOAA) wins at Poteau Thursday night. The games were originally scheduled for Jan. 24.

Muldrow girls 55, Poteau 44 Muldrow’s Kennedi Wight scored a game-high 27 points Thursday night inside Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse and the Class 4A No. 11 Lady Bulldogs (17-3 overall) outscored Poteau (8-9) 16-7 in the final eight minutes to record the conference victory.

In the opening period Wight hit a 3-pointer and totaled 11 points and Claire Tabor added four to help Muldrow take an 18-11 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs led 33-17 at the break after outscoring Poteau 15-6 in the second quarter. Muldrow’s Carmen Fields and Katelynn Moore (5 points apiece) each made a 3-pointer in the period and Wight had four points.

Wight totaled four points in the third stanza but the Lady Pirates trimmed 14 points (20-6) off the deficit to trail 39-37.

In the final frame Wight (8 points), Tabor (5) and Jensi Fields (3-pointer) scored Muldrow’s points.

Trailing Wight in scoring for Muldrow in the contest were Tabor (9 points), Moore (7), Carmen Fields (5), Jensi Fields (4) and Mason Anstine (3).

Scoring for Poteau were Brooklyn Garner and Britlee Reed (16 points each), Emma Hackler and Gracyn Soehlman (3 apiece) and Brooke Hattabaugh, Parker Patterson and Ava Zink (2 each).

Muldrow boys 43, Poteau 34 The Bulldogs erased a thirdquarter deficit by outscoring the Pirates 19-7 in the final eight minutes Thursday night in LeFlore County to claim the NOAA win.

In the first stanza Muldrow’s Kashan Buhkari hit a 3-pointer but Poteau grabbed an 11-5 lead.

Trenden Collins and Parker Sevenstar scored two points apiece for the Bulldogs in the second quarter but the Pirates led 21-11 at the intermission after increasing their advantage (10-6).

Muldrow sliced nine points (13-4) off the deficit in the third period. Collins recorded seven of his game-high 14 points for the Bulldogs, who went to the fourth trailing 25-24.

The Bulldogs erased the deficit in the fourth frame and Buhkari (6 points), Collins (5) and Andrew Luttrell and Sevenstar (4 each) provided the scoring for Muldrow.

Trailing Collins in scoring for Muldrow in the game were Buhkari (9 points), Sevenstar (8), Luttrell (6), Jaxson Anstine (2) and Teaguen Collins (1).

Scoring for Poteau were Connor Whitworth (12 points), Adrian Conchos (7), Champ Downs (6), Hudson Burdick (3) and Aiden Sockey, Kord Fenton and Calloway Warren (2 each).
