Roland tops Sallisaw in conference action Friday

Roland topped Sallisaw in N o r t h e a s t e r n Oklahoma Athletic A s s o c i a t i o n (NOAA) action Friday night inside the Ranger Dome.

Roland girls 41, Sallisaw 26

The Class 3A No. 17 Lady Rangers improved to 13-7 for the season Friday night at home with their win over the Lady Diamonds (13-7).

Roland boys 69, Sallisaw 50 The 3A fourth-ranked Rangers (19-2 overall) outscored the Black Diamonds (9-11) 24-15 in the first quarter Friday night on their way to the NOAA home victory over Sallisaw. Roland’s C a r s o n W i g g i n s registered seven of his gamehigh 20 points in the first eight minutes and the Rangers’ other leading scorers in the period were Peyton Whisenant (6 points), Ashton Peters and Buck Triplett (3-pointer apiece) and Davohn Hall (3 points). Sallisaw’s top scorers were Sim Kilpatrick (5 points with a 3-pointer), Cooper Jackson (4) and Broderick Cameron and Kam Dill (3-pointer apiece).

The Rangers led 40-29 at the break after adding two points (16-14) to their advantage in the second stanza behind the scoring of Hall (6 points), Wiggins (5) and Whisenant (3). Jackson Obregon (7 points) made a 3-pointer and went 4-for-4 at the foul line and Cooper Carter hit a pair of 2-point field goals for the Black Diamonds.

In the third quarter Kyeree Hall, Wiggins (6 points each) and Davohn Hall (4) helped Roland increase (18-15) its lead (58-44) and Dill (5 points) and Kilpatrick (4) led Sallisaw in scoring.

Kyeree Hall and Triplett recorded four and three points, respectively, for the Rangers in the low-scoring (11-6) fourth period and Garrett Morgan knocked down a 3-pointer for Sallisaw.

Trailing Wiggins in scoring for Roland in the game were D a v o h n Hall (15 poi n t s ) , K y e r e e Hall (14), Whisenant (9), Triplett (6), Peters (3) and Desean Cruse (2).

Scoring for Sallisaw were Kilpatrick (9 points), Dill (8), Obregon (7), Jackson and Carter (6 each), Cameron (5), Morgan and Max Stump (3 apiece) and Cooper Cox (2).
