RED OAK – Win by 100 points or win by one point, it’s still a win.
And that’s what the Gans Lady Grizzlies posted against the Indianola Warriors last week with a 40-39 verdict in the Class A district tournament.
The Lady Grizzlies forged a sixpoint lead in the first frame, but their advantage was short lived. By the end of the second stanza, the Lady Warriors rallied for an 18-16 edge at halftime.
Indianola improved its lead in the third period to 27-22, a fivepoint deficit Gans would have to overcome to keep its post-season hopes alive.
And the Lady Grizzlies were up to the task.
The Gans’ defense held the Lady Warriors to 12 points, which was enough for the Lady Grizzlies’ offense to surge late by making shot after shot. K’cee Osburn and Brianna Burris led the way with five points each, pacing Gans’ 18-point outburst in the fourth quarter to advance in the playoffs.
