Muldrow girls, boys top Checotah on the road

MULDROW HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Muldrow girls’ and boys’ basketball teams topped Checotah on the road Tuesday night in their final regular-season games.

Muldrow girls 59, Checotah 21

The Class 4A No. 11 Lady Bulldogs (19-3 overall) led 16-4 at the end of the first period on their way to the Northeastern Oklahoma Athletic Association (NOAA) victory Tuesday night inside the Checotah Event Center.

In the first stanza Claire Tabor hit two 3-pointers while scoring eight of her game-high 21 points and Kennedi Wight made three 2-pointers for Muldrow.

Tabor (8 points) knocked down her third and fourth treys of the contest in the second quarter as the Lady Bulldogs added 15 points (20-5) to their advantage (36-9).

Muldrow increased its lead in the third (9-8) and fourth (14-4) frames. Tabor totaled five points in the third and in the final period Addison Allen (6 points) and Makynlee Morton and Maysi Fields (3-pointer apiece) were the Lady Bulldogs’ leading scorers.

Trailing Tabor in scoring for Muldrow in the contest were Wight (10 points), Allen (8), Morton (5), Mason Anstine (4), Maysi Fields (3) and Cailey Grinstead, Katelynn Moore, Jensi Fields and Danica Tune (2 each).

Scoring for the Lady Wildcats (4-16) were Nyah Cloud and JaiCee Lester (5 points each), Aiyanna Brewer, Sage Jones and Ruthy Folkner (3 apiece) and Ruby Folkner (2).

Muldrow boys 49, Checotah 35 The Bulldogs improved to 14-7 for the season Tuesday night in Checotah (8-15) with its NOAA win over the Wildcats.

In the opening quarter Parker Sevenstar (6 points) and Kashan Buhkari (3-pointer) helped the Bulldogs go in front 11-7.

Trenden Collins hit three 3-pointers while registering 14 of his game-high 22 points in the second stanza as the Bulldogs increased their advantage (16-11) to lead 27-18 at the half.

Muldrow widened its lead in the third (107) and fourth (12-10) quarters. Jaxon Anstine scored four points in the third for the Bulldogs and Collins (8 points) and Andrew Luttrell (4) recorded Muldrow’s points in the fourth.

Trailing Collins in scoring for Muldrow in the game were Luttrell and Sevenstar (8 points each), Buhkari (5), Anstine (4) and Kenoy Releford (2).

Scoring for Checotah were Maddox Bridges (13 points), Tyler Orman (10), Tyler Corn (7) and Elijah Thomas (5).
