Gore School Board President Cody Sloan recently organized a professional, agriculture business related career day for the seniors of Gore and Webbers Falls high schools. This first annual event was titled the “Paul Gould Agra Business Career Day,” in remembrance of a local agri-business professional that was lost serving his community.
The students had a busy day of tours with business owners and representatives on local professions related to the agriculture community. Students toured facilities, were informed on job opportunities, requirements for each profession, and an overall view of what is available locally for future career opportunities related to the agriculture field and supporting services.
The highlight of the day was a pulled pork lunch provided by Cody and Steve Sloan of Sloan Farms.
The students toured Souter Limestone Mine, Summerlin Trucking, Sallisaw Airport to visit with host Colton Adcock of Adcock Flying Services, Nutrien Chemical and Seed, Sloan Farms, Simplot Chemical and Seed, Agra Tech Services, David Ward owner, and Consolidated Grain and Barge. Superintendents of both schools chaperoned the students on the tours.
The schools wish to thank all their hosts and sponsors.
