Members learn benefits of chair dancing
We had our chapter fun day Monday. We had eight members weigh in. We had a net gain of 1.5 pounds, but we had several with good weight losses. I had the best weight loss for the week with 3.7 pounds. My cardiologist was happy with my weight loss today. Five members sign our Loser Lotto chart leaving 8 blocks until the contest is over. The Two Bit Bowl name drawn was Virginia so she received the quarters for her weight loss. Our challenge for this week is to practice three days on our Chair Dancing exercise which will be our program next Monday. Practice, practice, practice Members because I am bringing Engelbert Humperdink music to the meeting next week!

Another cannonball was handed out for the members to add to their notebooks. ‘Get Fit While You Sit with Chair Dancing’ will be a fun cannonball for us. We can all benefit from exercise regardless of our age, shape, or size, and we don’t even need a gym to do so—all we need is a chair. Most of us probably feel pretty good after we get moving and it’s rare to regret making the effort to work out. But, we’re all busy—some of us may have back or knee pain, some of us may work long hours and some of us may just be turned off by the thought of exercise altogether. It’s true that fitting in exercise can be tough—but only if we allow it to be. We make time for the things we value most, and our health should be at the top of this list.
Our fun day consisted of teaching how to knit and also teaching a new card game called ‘7’. One of the ladies commented how we all need to play ‘7’ at the next fun day in March.
This Saturday we go to Poteau for our Quarterly Fun Day for southeast Oklahoma TOPS Chapters. The theme for the fun day is “50’s Sock Hop”. We are looking forwards to seeing everyone there and seeing how the 50’s can feel fun again.
