Members learn to focus on victories

By Billie Anthony

Today we had ten members weigh in. Jerry had the best weight loss for the week with 1.9 pounds. Way to go Jerry! Keep up the good work. We had five members sign our Loser Lotto chart leaving 3 blocks until the contest is over. We will start a new contest next week. The Two Bit Bowl name drawn was Willene so she received the quarters for her weight loss. We had a fun time with our program today…Get Fit While You Sit with Chair Dancing. Our music was Engelbert Humperdink. We had a fun time just remembering when he was famous. Do a search on chair dancing on You Tube and you can have fun with it.

Another cannonball was handed out for the members to add to their notebooks. “Bee Proud Out Loud, Creating a Buzz About Weight Loss.” In chapter, we share smiles and tears, victories and fears. Many times, especially during our discussions about weight loss, we tend to focus the majority of our attention on what went wrong, how we fell off plan or the things we ate that were “bad.” Why not switch things up and focus on you’re on the right track. And that’s a buzzworthy reason to “bee proud out loud.” When you think on your week, in weight loss, what do you remember most? Do you think about the healthy breakfast you had this morning and the call you made to a friend instead of the late-night trip to the fridge, or do you think about the workout you skipped and the day you missed your water goal? Self-talk is hugely important, if we can’t pat ourselves on the back for the little victories, then how can we accept kind words from others?

We discussed about the Fun Day in Poteau this past Saturday. We had a fun time watching the Hula Hoop contest, the Twist and 50’s costume contest. We had baskets we bought ticket chances and had a silent auction. Two of our chapter members won baskets, congratulations Donna and Doris! The next Fun Day will be in McAlester on May 20th. The theme will be about a Circus. Let’s buy our red noses!

EVERYONE is invited to visit. The first visit is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:30am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:30am and the meeting starts at 11am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918/4131383. We look forward to meeting you.
