The Sequoyah County CCR/SART (Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Response Team) will hold its annual Sexual Assault Awareness Glow Stick Walk on April 3.
The event will start at 7:30 p.m. at the pavilion on the east side of the Sequoyah County Courthouse. Glow sticks will be provided and it will be a live Facebook event.
“It is not a long walk, about five to six blocks and will end at the courthouse,” Sequoyah County Sheriff’s investigator Cindy Smith, who heads the Special Victims Crime Unit for the Sheriff’s Office, said.
“Believe it or not, but 30 to 45 minutes of your time to show support and bring awareness can make a lifetime of difference to a sexual assault victim/ survivor,” Smith said. “Come join us and help bring Sexual Assault Awareness to our communities.”
Smith said Sequoyah County CCR/ SART will also be asking Sequoyah County Commissioners to proclaim April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month during their weekly meeting at 10 a.m. on April 3.
