ODVA announces organization’s new communications director
The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) has announced Jennifer Bloomfield as the organization’s director of communications.
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) has announced Jennifer Bloomfield as the organization’s director of communications.
Bloomfield will manage all internal and public communications, public relations, photography and marketing campaigns for ODVA, the agency charged with representing more than 300,000 veterans in Oklahoma.
“ODVA welcomes Jennifer back to the newly created position as communications director,” said Greg Slavonic, the ODVA interim executive director. “One of my priorities when accepting the interim executive director position was to improve communications with the veterans, staff, legislature and public. She is the perfect person to execute our communications strategy.’ Bloomfield began her career with ODVA at the Norman Veterans Home in October 2016 as an administrative technician. She was promoted eight months later to administrative assistant, and then promoted once again in June 2018 to the position of education and training programs administrator. It was then that Bloomfield transferred to the Oklahoma City location and became the responsible party for the training completion of more than 1,800 agency staff members. The agency saw an improvement of 336% for training completion and compliance within her first 12 months in the position. Bloomfield was promoted again in November 2021 to the position of public information and marketing programs administrator, and served as the long-time Oklahoma Veterans Commission clerk from July 2018 through August 2022.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to be working for the ODVA in this role,” Bloomfield says. “It is rare when we as civilians have the opportunity to adequately put into words how we feel about the veterans of our state. I am fortunate in this position within the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs to have not only been given a front row seat to their duty, honor and sacrifice, but to now be given a voice to champion for their benefit and the benefit of those who serve them.”
