By Lea Lessley Sports Writer

Sallisaw erupted for seven runs in the top of the fourth inning Saturday at Pryor and the Black Diamonds went on to down the Tigers 12-8 in a Zebra/ Tiger Classic contest.

PRYOR — Sallisaw erupted for seven runs in the top of the fourth inning Saturday, and the Black Diamonds went on to down the Pryor Tigers 12-8 in a Zebra/Tiger Classic contest.

In the bottom of the opening inning, a two-RBI single by Pryor’s Stephen Osborne put the Tigers in front 2-0.

The Black Diamonds tied the score at 2 in the top of the third on Brock Streun’s fielder’s choice RBI.

Sallisaw registered seven runs in the fourth frame to go in front for good, thanks to Creed Nelson’s three-RBI double, Braxton Lamb’s walk and two Pryor errors.

The Tigers responded with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 9-6, but the Black Diamonds added a run apiece in the fifth, sixth and seventh frames. Pryor’s final two runs came in its last at-bat in the seventh.

Registering a hit apiece for Sallisaw in the game were Cole Stephens, Nelson, Charlie Martin, Jake Craighead, Kaden Warner and Brodie Cameron.

Stephens, Martin and Nelson each hit a double in the contest and Nelson drove in four runs.

Handling Sallisaw’s pitching chores were Coleman Wasson (1.0 inning), Cameron (2.0), Nelson (1.0) and Craighead (3.0). Coleman struck out two and walked two while allowing one hit and two earned runs, Cameron struck out two and walked none while giving up a hit and no earned runs, Nelson struck out one and walked two while allowing three hits and four earned runs and Craighead struck out three and walked two while giving up three hits and two earned runs.

Pryor committed five errors in the game and Sallisaw had one.
