Fishing Report for April 12

FORT GIBSON: April 9. Elevation is 1 ft. above normal, water temperature 61°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Crappie good on jigs, minnows, and plastic baits around brush structure, creek channels, river mouth, and rocks. Blue catfish good on cut bait, live shad, and shad below the dam, coves, and points. Paddlefish fair snagging below the dam and river mouth. Comments: Fishing is really heating up. Crappie are being caught in creeks next to brush and rock structures close to shore. White bass and hybrids are heating up below the dam on plastic baits. Some white bass are being caught in the upper end of Fort Gibson, but the fish are still spread out. Paddlefish are starting to make the move in the upper end of Fort Gibson, but most are still being caught trolling with dipsy divers. GREENLEAF: April 11. Elevation is normal, water temperature 61°F and clear. Largemouth bass good on buzz baits, crankbaits, plastic baits, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, points, shorelines, and standing timber. Crappie fair on hair jigs, minnows, and small lures around brush structure, docks, and shorelines. Blue and flathead catfish fair on chicken liver, cut bait, live bait, and shad around brush structure, channels, shallows, and shorelines. Report submitted by Dylan Langford, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

LOWER ILLINOIS: April 9. Elevation is normal, water temperature 53°F and clear. Rainbow trout good on inline spinnerbaits, midges, nymphs, PowerBait, spoons, and worms below the dam. Comments: Water levels in the lake have returned normal and they are starting to cycle the releases below the dam. Fishing is best during periods of low flow usually early morning or late evening below the dam and at the Watts area. Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Sequoyah County.

TENKILLER: April 9. Elevation is 0.5 ft. below normal, water temperature 58°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) White bass fair on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, jigs, and tube jigs around creek channels, flats, and river mouth. Crappie good on minnows and tube jigs around brush structure and docks. Largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass good on crankbaits, jigs, plastic baits, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, channels, points, and shorelines. Comments: White bass are being caught in creek channels near the main lake. The white bass activity should pick up throughout the week with the warmer temperatures forecasted. WEBBERS FALLS: April 11. Elevation is normal, water temperature 61°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth bass good on crankbaits, jigs, plastic baits, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, channels, points, and shorelines. Striped and white bass fair on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, flukes, jigs, and small lures below the dam, creek channels, flats, and river mouth. Crappie on hair jigs and minnows below the dam, brush structure, and creek channels. Report submitted by Dylan Langford, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

ROBERT S. KERR: April 7. Elevation is normal, water temperature 61°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth and spotted bass good on crankbaits, minnows, plastic baits, and small lures below the dam, brush structure, coves, shorelines, and weed beds. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish good on chicken liver, cut bait, grubs, live shad, minnows, shad, shrimp, and worms below the dam, brush structure, channels, coves, points, river channel, and river mouth. Crappie good on cut bait, hair jigs, jigs, and minnows below the dam, brush structure, coves, points, and weed beds. Report submitted by Logan Shimp, game warden stationed in Haskell County.
