A Sallisaw man is facing three felony counts of lewd or indecent acts to child under 16 after he was allegedly caught on video sexually abusing a child at a Roland apartment complex.
Stephen L. Oxford, 29, was charged March 29 in Sequoyah County District Court and is now set for a May 17 felony disposition docket with Associate District Judge Kyle Waters.
Roland Police officer Chris Waters reported on March 22 that officer Tyler Ragan received a call about an individual having a video on their phone of a child under the age of 16 being sexually abused. The officers went to the apartment complex where the abuse allegedly occurred and informed them of the information they’d received, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The individual brought the phone to the Roland Police Department for officers to review the video which reportedly showed the juvenile on a bed with a male, who was later identified as Oxford. According to the affidavit, Oxford exposed himself to the juvenile and a sexual act occured before leaving the room.
The juvenile was reportedly interviewed and told authorities Oxford allegedly threatened the juvenile, telling the juvenile not to tell what happened or he would “not give the juvenile food” the “juvenile would be whooped” or he (Oxford) “might kill the juvenile’s mom.”
The affidavit states Oxford made the juvenile perform the sexual act on more than one occasion.
District Attorney Jack Thorp said if found guilty of the crimes, each count is punishable by imprisonment in the State Penitentiary for not less than three years nor more than 20 years.
