An arrest warrant remains active for a Fort Smith, Ark. man accused of felony lewd molestation in Sequoyah County.
Nathan R. Horn, 33, was formally charged with the crime on March 10 in Sequoyah County District Court and an arrest warrant was issued for him the same day. His bond has been set at $20,000 and he’s ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim as a condition of the bond, according to the felony warrant issued.
Sallisaw Police Detective Andrew Edwards reported on Jan. 12 he met with a forensic interviewer in regards to the allegations made against Horn.
During the interview, the victim told authorities they were allegedly raped by Horn from the time they were 10 to 11 years old. A majority of the alleged sexual incidents reportedly took place while they were living at an apartment complex in Sallisaw, and another time at a Roland residence.
The victim said one incident took place after Horn laid down in the floor with the victim and allegedly began touching the victim inappropriately, trying to remove articles of the victim’s clothing, according to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case.
The victim said they pushed away from Horn several times and when he was unsuccessful in removing the victim’s clothing, he became flustered and reportedly left the room.
After the interview Edwards spoke with the victim’s mother separately, asking her where the alleged sexual abuse took place. The mother claimed the alleged incidents reportedly occurred at Applegate Cove, just south of Sallisaw. Another alleged event reportedly happened in Van Buren, Ark., according to the affidavit.
The affidavit also stated that Horn told the victim that if the victim told anyone about the alleged sexual abuse, he would kill certain family members of the victim’s.
District Attorney Jack Thorp said if found guilty of the crime, it is punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for not less than 25 years.
