Vian has a new business in town that offers something everyone is sure to take advantage of.
Shannon Johnson opened The She Shed on April 12 at 204 W. Schley Street. The business is connected to the Vian Laundry Mat, and will host a grand opening on May 1.
Johnson said she’s always enjoyed cosmetology, and attended beauty college for the first time about 20 year ago.
“I attended school at Vian for three years before graduating from Muskogee High School in 1996,” Johnson said. “After living in Corpus Christi, Texas, I moved back to Vian in 2000, where I’ve stayed and raised my five boys, along with two nieces.”
“Then ‘life happened,’ and I decided to go back to cosmetology school at ICTC. A lot of things changed in that 20 years, and I had to learn new things and new techniques,” she said.
Johnson proudly said she was the first to graduate from the ICTC program.
After working for three years at W Salon in Sallisaw, she said she decided it was time for her to step out and try things on her own. “And being close to home (Vian) just felt right,” she said.
She now hopes to grow her new business and provide a service to those who need a new or fresh look.
The business offers men’s, women’s and kid’s haircuts, perms, chemical relaxers, eyebrow tinting and waxing, leg and underarm waxing, deep conditioning treatments, extensions, braiding, shampoo sets, up-do’s, and all color, including balayage, ombre, fashion colors, highlights and low lights.
Johnson said she plans to have monthly specials which will be posted to her Facebook page.
“So be sure and check what’s new each month,” she said. “I can be found by searching Shannon Reason Johnson or Cosmo by Shannon. You can message me on the main page or through messenger.”
During the grand opening, Johnson said she will have a drawing for a free men’s and women’s haircut.
