Gore hires FFA advisor, teacher/coach
The Gore Board of Education met on April 10 where they voted to hire a FFA advisor and a temporary certified teacher/ coach, and also announced their selection for District Teacher of the Year.
The Gore Board of Education met on April 10 where they voted to hire a FFA advisor and a temporary certified teacher/ coach, and also announced their selection for District Teacher of the Year.
The board voted to go into executive session to interview certified positions for a FFA advisor and temporary certified teacher/coach. Board president Cody Sloan acknowledged open session and gave a compliance report that no votes were taken in executive session.
Sloan then made a motion to hire Grant Brown as FFA advisor (temporary certified position) and Ethan Hutson as a (temporary certified) teacher/ coach for the junior high and high school, with all other board members voting yes.
The board also unanimously hired all certified, temporary certified and support staff for the elementary, upper elementary and high school back for the 2023-24 school year.
Board member Gary Cunningham made a motion to approve Gore Lower Elementary’s selection for District Teacher of the Year, Kristi Myres, with all board members voting pro.
Under consent agenda items, resignations were accepted from Teresa Barrick and Dee McAffrey, according to meeting minutes and PO’s 315-335 and Building Fund PO’s 30-31 were approved.
Cherokee Wilson, representing Gore FFA, spoke about an overnight trip to the state FFA convention, which the board later approved. They also heard from teacher Jennie Spears on a stipend policy.
Superintendent Lucky McCrary spoke on the District Budget update for 2022-23 and construction/roof projects.
Also approved during the meeting were a Resolution for Schools and Libraries Universal Services (E-Rate) for 2023-24, and an architect for new construction projects.
