Search warrant results in arrest

A Muldrow man received a $20,000 bond after being charged on counts of unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute and possess firearm during commission of felony following the execution of a search warrant at his residence last month.

Anthony “Butch” Williams, 52, was formally charged on April 12 in Sequoyah County District Court and is set to appear before Associate District Judge Kyle Waters for a May 24 felony disposition docket.

Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Investigator Steven Jenkins reported on April 3 that he, along with other law enforcement officers, executed a search warrant at Williams’ residence on Highway 101.

Authorities secured the property and all personnel at the residence with the exception of Michael Spoon, who reportedly took off on foot into the woods. Spoon was found to have an active felony warrant, according to the probable cause affidavit in the case.

During a search of the residence, police reported finding a safe containing three plastic bags with a white crystal substance inside that later tested positive for methamphetamine. The substances together weighed around 12 grams total.

A loaded 9mm pistol was also located inside the safe, along with $600 in cash and Williams’ wallet, which contained $255 cash.

In Williams’ bedroom, authorities reported finding an operational set of digital scales, a bag with a white crystal substance that weighed around 4 grams and another bag of a substance that weighed around .50 grams.

Three long rifles were also found near a closet and one of them was discovered to have been stolen out of Sequoyah County, according to the affidavit.

A total of about 18 grams of methamphetamine was reportedly located and sent to the state crime lab for further testing.
