Central’s high school baseball team won its Class 2A district tournament at home Friday by beating Canadian 12-0 and 13-1.
The Tigers were scheduled to play two regional games at Amber-Pocasset High School on Thursday, which is about 10 miles northeast of Chickasha and 200 miles from Central.
In Friday’s first game against Canadian, Central’s Connor Green led off the bottom of the first inning with a double to right field before Connor Walters sent a pitch over the left-center field fence for a two-run homer. Aiden Sainer and Hardy Buzzard later registered singles for the Tigers during the at-bat.
Walters singled in the Central second and in the bottom of the third the Tigers registered 10 runs. Driving in the runs were Waylen Campbell (hit by a pitch), singles by Kyle Harden , Green and Walters, Sainer (ground out) and Harden (walk). Two wild pitches, a passed ball and an error produced four more runs and Sainer started the at-bat with an infield base hit.
Central head coach Wes Green said his team played well Friday.
“It was good to get to play at home and not be on the road,” Green said. “Our lefty sophomore Bo Locust, did a great job on the mound in game 1. We played clean, solid “D” and the offense did its job getting on base and stealing bases and producing runs. Both games offensively Connor Green and Conner Walters led the way. I think Connor Green ended up being 4 for 6 in both games with a walk and a hit by a pitch and Connor Walters was close to the same and he had three home runs in the two games. Connor Walters pitched the second game.”
