Addison Qualls

By Lynn McCulley Staff Writer

Addison Qualls, a freshmen at Muldrow High School who is getting ready for her sophomore year next fall is looking forward to her new office as a reporter for the Muldrow FFA.

Addison Qualls, a freshmen at Muldrow High School who is getting ready for her sophomore year next fall, is looking forward to her new office as a reporter for the Muldrow FFA.

“It’s my first time to hold an office in FFA and I enjoy taking pictures and writing so this is something I’m really excited about doing,” she said.

Qualls, who has shown hogs for the past two years, said the FFA is something she is familiar with.

“I’ve only been a member for two years but I’ve learned a lot. I’ve also made a lot of friends and I’m getting to do something in which I’m involved with people,” she said.

Qualls, 15, said she accompanied her cousin who showed hogs to livestock shows and after learning about them, she decided it was her animal of choice to show. Her hogs have received first place and second place ribbons at various livestock shows.

“I get a lot of support from my family when it comes to showing and I have friends who have held the same office I have for advice if I need some so I’m glad about that,” she said.

Qualls, born and raised in Sequoyah County, has attended Muldrow School since sixth grade. She has also attended Gans Elementary School where her family which includes her parents and little sister lived for a short time before moving back to Muldrow.

“I attended pre-K in Muldrow and didn’t return until I was in the sixth grade,” she said.

Her plans after high school are to take classes and learn more about vo-ag, she said.

Her hobbies include drawing, reading novels, riding her horse and listening to music.

“I enjoy my school and I enjoy living in Muldrow,” she said.

“I know the community and I know the people. It makes me feel secure to live and go to a school where I know just about everyone. That’s my favorite part about living where I do,” she said.

Qualls said her favorite subject in school is math. “I just enjoy all of it whether it be algebra, geometry or some other part of math. It’s just always been my favorite,” she said.

In addition to showing hogs, Qualls said she is surrounded by chickens and other animals at home including her dog “Piper,” a Shorkie.

“I’m looking forward to my summer break. I hope to find a job and I might get to go on a vacation somewhere,” she said.

“I’ll also be doing Driver’s Ed this summer and hope to get a driver’s license when I’ve completed it.

“But I am looking forward to serving as the reporter for Muldrow FFA. I was elected as reporter on May 9,” she said.

“I’m just ready to start taking pictures and informing people about our Muldrow FFA,” she said, smiling.
