Board approves resignations, hires for 2023-24 school year

The Sallisaw School Board approved resignations, facility use requests and other business at their regular meeting Monday.

The Sallisaw School Board approved resignations, facility use requests and other business at their regular meeting Monday.

Following the approval of all reports, board members, President-Amanda Trudeau-Hatcher, Vice-President Justin McGrew and Clerk Bobby Qualls approved minutes of the last meeting held on April 10.

Resignations submitted by Stephen Mapp, Strength and Conditioning Coach; Ethan Hutson, teacher/coach; Samantha Meredith, fifth grade teacher; and Sandra Hoover, high school secretary, were all approved.

Also approved was a resolution for Schools and Libraries Universal Services (E-Rate) for the 2023-24 school year, the school resource officer agreement for the 2022-23 school year and the Board Policy FFACD.

Facility Use Requests were approved for the following: -The Sallisaw Chamber of Com- merce to use the field behind the softball field for the July 4 Fireworks show on July 4, 2023, all day until 10:30 p.m.; -Sequoyah County TIMES to use the Middle School Cafeteria for the annual Retirement Fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 17; and -Sallisaw Youth League to use the Eastside gym for cheer practices two days a week from 3:30 to 6 p.m. beginning in August to October of this year.

Following executive session, the board approved employment of certified teachers for 2023-24.

McGrew made the motion to approve teachers on a temporary contract for the 2023-24 school year, which was approved by the remaining board and are listed as follows: Ashley Williams as a seventh grade science teacher, Sheena Compton as a seventh and eighth grade Grade Math Teacher, Logan Aguilera as an eighth grade history teacher, Aaron Compton as a Physical Education teacher at the Sallisaw Middle School, Kyle Lovejoy as a STEM Teacher at the high school, Scott Mayfield as a ISS coordinator/Academic Achievement Teacher, Raven Cheney as a second grade teacher, Lisa Beth Tyler as a teacher assistant at Liberty Elementary, Lindsay Glover as a PK3 Teacher at Liberty Elementary, Kaycie Bell as a third grade teacher, and Marin McClennan as a third grade teacher.
