Sallisaw VFW Auxillary announces art contest winners
First place winner of the recent Patriotic Art Contest sponsored by the Sallisaw VFW Auxiliary 4518 is Jordan Haneberg, who submitted a picture of an aircraft carrier. Haneberg was rewarded with a $100 gift card. The theme for this year’s contest was “What Does America Mean to You?” according to Vickey Price, secretary for the auxiliary. “Congratulations to all of these winners and to all the students who entered the contest. The two first place winners in the two divisions will have the opportunity to compete on the state level. We are wishing these students well,” Price said.

Wyatt Stidd won first place in the K-2 division. Stidd was presented a gift card in the amount of $100.
Fireworks, painted by Hadley McFarland, received third place in the art contest. McFarland received a $25 gift card for her division (6-8 grade).
Katie Ballinger earned second place and a $50 gift card for her art entitled “Care is Costly.” Ballinger is among several students from Sequoyah County who entered the contest, which was split in two divisions of K-2 and 6-8 grades.
