A come-and-go retirement celebration for Sallisaw Public Schools Superintendent Randy Wood will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the Sallisaw Middle School cafeteria.
Everyone is invited to stop by and congratulate Wood on his 48 years of teaching and coaching, and leading both Roland and Sallisaw Public School districts.
Wood has lived in Sallisaw for 49 years, where he started out teaching science and coaching. He began his career at Sallisaw Schools in 1974 as an intern, saying his goal was to work with Perry F. Lattimore.
Wood said he worked his way up to assistant principal at Sallisaw before becoming superintendent at Roland, where he led that school district for 18 years before coming to Sallisaw in 2019.
