A Sallisaw man who is already facing multiple charges of child sexual abuse and lewd molestation in Sequoyah County District Court has now been charged with an additional felony charge of lewd molestation, according to court records.
Rusty J. Waters, 44, was charged April 25 and is set to appear before Special Judge Matt Orendorff at 9 a.m. on June 5.
In November 2019, Sallisaw Police investigated an alleged possible sexual assault between Waters and a 14-year-old victim. The victim was interviewed at the Sheriff’s Office a few days later and the victim’s phone was forensically analyzed.
Police went through the contents of the victim’s phone where they reportedly viewed multiple images of Waters and the minor together, some which were taken at Waters’ residence in Sallisaw.
When confronted about the images found on the phone, the minor reportedly denied having any sexual relationship with Waters.
When Waters was asked to be interviewed by authorities, he reportedly told police he would and bring his attorney, but he never showed up.
