A Sallisaw man has reportedly died as a result of injuries he sustained in a collision north of Sallisaw on May 9.
A Sallisaw man has reportedly died as a result of injuries he sustained in a collision north of Sallisaw on May 9.
OHP Trooper Steven Crooks #244 of the Sequoyah County Detachment of Troop C reported Glen Freshour, 68, died Wednesday at a Tulsa hospital. Crooks said the collision occurred around 4:37 p.m. on S. 4620 Rd. and E. 1040 Rd.
The trooper reported Derek Christenberry, 30, of Sallisaw was traveling southbound on S. 4620 Rd. in a 2001 Dodge 1500, and Freshour was traveling eastbound approaching a stop sign, stopping at the intersection.
Freshour then reportedly turned his 2007 Lincoln MKX in front of Christenberry’s vehicle, causing Christenberry to strike the Lincoln on the driver’s side. Freshour was pinned in his vehicle for around 20 minutes before being freed by members of the Sallisaw Fire Department, according to the accident report.
Christenberry and his passenger, Robert Watts, 42, also of Sallisaw were both uninjured.
Freshour was life-flighted to St. Francis were he was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries. The trooper reported he died Wednesday morning at the hospital.
The trooper listed the cause of the collision as failure to yield from stop sign.
