‘Ready…set…summer’

By Billie Anthony

We had six ladies weigh in and three guests this past Monday. Annette had the best weight loss for the week with .8 pounds lost. Treasury received the Two Bit Bowl quarters this week. We started a six week challenge called ‘Ready… Set…Summer! We are to do six different activities for the next six weeks. This week the surprise box was won by Willene. She received a crocheted lap blanket. We will start up with a new surprise box next Monday. The Chapter Challenge will be to eat less salt and drink water.

Our program was an interview with Honduran Missionary Teri Riley. Billie interviewed Teri and members also chimed in with questions. We learned Teri has been a missionary to Honduras for 28 years. She and her husband, Jim Riley, has been married 32 years, they have four children, one born in Joplin MO, one born in Council Bluffs IA and two born in Honduras. All four children are here in the States going to college with one graduating with a bachelors in nursing and working at Mercy in Ft Smith. A question about the type of food Hondurans eat was beans, rice, corn tortillas, plantains, beef, pork and chicken. They eat lots of vegetables and fruit. The Rileys have started three churches in Tegucigalpa Honduras. Teri loves having ladies conferences. She and her team has a conference Labor Day weekend, they have been asked to have a conference in Guatamala, they are planning a conference here in the States in April and the team is going to Italy to a conference in November. Our TOPS members thoroughly enjoyed Teri’s program and commitment to introduce ladies to Jesus. Thank you for educating us on your work in Honduras.

We closed our meeting with the TOPS Pledge.

EVERYONE is invited to visit. The FIRST VISIT is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:30am-12pm.
