OSU, Arkansas named NCAA Regional Tournament hosts; OU makes the cut as ORU heading to Stillwater

By OKSTATE.COM; ARKANSASRAZORBACKS.COM; SOONERSPORTS.COM

Both the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks were named two of the 16 NCAA Regional Tournament hosts after Memorial Day’s selection show.

Oklahoma State (41-18) was awarded the No. 11 national seed in the 2023 NCAA Baseball Championship and will host Dallas Baptist, Washington and Oral Roberts in the NCAA Stillwater Regional at O’Brate Stadium from will begin Friday and end either Sunday or Monday, depending on the need for an if-game.

The 2023 NCAA Stillwater Regional will mark the second-straight year the Cowboys have hosted at a Regional O’Brate Stadium, which opened in 2021 and has a capacity of 8,000.

Dallas Baptist is the No. 2 seed in Stillwater. The Patriots are 45-14 on the season. The third seed is Washington, which will bring a 34-18 record to Stillwater, while fourth-seeded ORU won the Summit League and is 46-11 on the year.

Washington will meet Dallas Baptist at noon Friday, then OSU will face its in-state rival ORU at 6 p.m.

The regional finals will be at 8 p.m. Sunday, with the if-game Monday at a time yet to be determined.

The Razorbacks (41-16), the No. 3 national seed and top seed in the Fayetteville Regional, are set to host second-seeded Texas Christian University (37-22), third-seeded Arizona (33-24) and fourth-seeded Santa Clara (35-18) from Friday through Monday at Baum-Walker Stadium. Arkansas will open tournament play against Santa Clara at 2 p.m. Friday, followed by TCU and Arizona at 8 p.m.

The regional final will be at 8 p.m. Sunday, with the if-game Monday at a time yet to be determined.

The Oklahoma Sooners might very well have been one of the final 64 teams to make the cut. OU (3126) were selected to play at the Charlottesville (Va.) Regional.

OU, the regional No. 3 seed, will play regional No. 2 seed East Carolina at 6 p.m. Friday, regional host and No. 7 national seed Virginia will face Army earlier on Friday. OU has never played East Carolina in baseball, and is 5-3 all-time against Virginia and 1-0 against Army.

The regional finals are slated for Sunday, with the if-game set for Monday if necessary.
