Anyone may bring objects they have discovered and learn about them from experts. The program is free.
Although identification of projectile points is subjective at best, local avocational archeologists will identify the items to the best of their ability and provide insights about the history connected to them. Artifacts will be examined on a first-come, first-served basis, and participants should limit their collections to no more than 20 objects.
Experts will not appraise or speculate about the value of the items.
The Oklahoma Archeological Survey has recorded over 500 prehistoric and historic sites in Sequoyah County alone.
The Sequoyah County Chapter holds regularly scheduled monthly meetings at 6 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month at Broadway Joe’s Restaurant.
