The Sequoyah County Commissioners on Monday opened bids for concrete work at the courthouse for the parking lot, pavilion and repair work to steps. Bids received were from Brooks Construction in the amount of $92,000; Solid Rock Concrete of Vian, $99,856.78; and Fletcher Construction Company of Henryetta, $120,984.66.

The commissioners approved the low bid from Brooks Construction, contingent upon a review to ensure all specifications are accurate.

Additionally, the commissioners approved payment to Robinson Construction in the amount of $152,700.13 for emergency repairs on Indian Road.

“It’s moving along,” District 2 commissioner Beau Burlison said of the Indian Road project. “Progress is good. We’re all glad to see it.”

The commissioners also ap- proved Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office to apply for a $50,000 Cherokee Nation grant for first responders.

In addition, the sheriff’s office was approved to purchase two 2023 Chevrolet 1500 police patrol trucks.

In other business housekeeping as the fiscal year winds down, the commissioners approved a dispatcher agreement between Sequoyah County 911 and the town of Vian, as well as a DARE agreement between the sheriff’s office and Brushy School for a school resource officer, which next school year increases from part-time to full-time.

The commissioners chose to take no action on a request to transfer appropriations from OSU Extension Contractual Services to OSU Extension Management and Operations. The item is expected to be addressed at next week’s meeting.

The commissioners meet at 10 a.m. Mondays at the Sequoyah County Courthouse.
