Iron Mountain Festival & Freedom Celebration gears up

By Amie Cato-Remer Editor

The Roland Chamber of Commerce has released updates for this year’s Iron Mountain Festival & Freedom Celebration scheduled for Saturday, July 1, at Roland City Park, beginning at 4 p.m.

The Roland Chamber of Commerce has released updates for this year’s Iron Mountain Festival & Freedom Celebration scheduled for Saturday, July 1, at Roland City Park, beginning at 4 p.m.

The chamber said Trey Russell Music is coming back to perform again this year because he was such a hit last year, they had to have him back.

The Black Diamond Baggers and chamber are also hosting a cornhole tournament at $40 per team. There is an 80% payout for first, second and third places, and the tournament is sponsored (and $500 was added) by Cody Click and Nicki Morgan of Oklahoma Farm Bureau. Check-in is at 3 p.m. with bags flying at 4 p.m. at the Roland Fire Department.

If you plan to attend, you might also want to bring your appetite. Karen’s Concession is coming back with their roasted corn and deep-fried goodies, Monica’s homestyle burritos were a hit and sold out last year, Josie Cheater is slinging Indian Tacos, while the Roland FFA Chapter will have their famous BBQ sandwiches for sale.

Rockin’ Rackley’s Catering and BBQ will have other great BBQ options and Seven Oaks Meat Processing and Fresh Start Seafood & Catering is joining in for the first time this year. Another new vendor is Raven’s Element with candied fruits.

The chamber is thankful for sponsors who contribute each year so that great music and entertainment can be provided.

Some of the 2023 festival sponsors include: Town of Roland, Firstar Bank, First National Bank of Fort Smith, Sonic Drive-In, Phresh OTD, Cookson Hills Electric Coop, Sequoyah County Farm Bureau Roland – Cody Click and Niki Morgan, Precision Paint Worx, PG Roofing & Construction – Michael Mendoza, The Burt Team, O’Neal Real Estate LLC, Flynn Edwards & O’Neal PLLC, Roland Nursing Home, Genesis Back & Neck River Valley with Dr. Morgan A Seubold DC, and Border Town Auction.
