Sequoyah County residents continue to deal with the aftermath of the weekend’s fierce storm, which packed winds of more than 60 mph that roared through eastern Oklahoma, knocking out power throughout the region, blowing out business signs, snapping utility poles, flinging about unsecured outdoor items and, in some cases, uprooting trees.
A 90-foot-tall tree in the 500 block of South Mulberry in Sallisaw was toppled Saturday night, which downed power lines, blew a transformer and plunged the area into darkness. The tree only grazed the front of a nearby house — yes, there’s a house behind those massive limbs — before coming to rest across the entire front of the property. No injuries were reported when the tree fell.
