Sallisaw student honored as Academic All-Stater
Rani Gandhi, a 2023 graduate of Sallisaw North High School, was among 100 outstanding seniors from Oklahoma public schools who were recently honored as an Academic All-Stater, during the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Academic Awards Banquet, held recently in Tulsa.
Rani Gandhi, a 2023 graduate of Sallisaw North High School, was among 100 outstanding seniors from Oklahoma public schools who were recently honored as an Academic All-Stater, during the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Academic Awards Banquet, held recently in Tulsa.
She received a $1,500 Academic All-State award sponsored by foundation trustee, Steve Holton and his wife, Pam, of Poteau. Sallisaw High School English teacher Whitney Sharp was Gandhi’s honored teacher guest at the awards banquet and presented her with her Academic All-State medallion.
Gandhi is a Gates Scholarship semi-finalist, Quest-Bridge College Prep Scholar, and a Distinguished Honor Graduate. She serves as National Honor Society president and class secretary. She participated in Girls State and the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference, where she was awarded the Leadership for Service Award.
Gandhi has won two state titles in marching band, both as the Drum Major. She has volunteered at Baptist Health Hospital and reads for the Lettermans for Literacy program. She enjoys reading, writing gratitude lists, and collecting foreign currency while traveling.
Gandhi plans to major in aviation management at Oklahoma State University.
