Vian man perishes in head-on collision

A Vian man reportedly died Thursday evening due to injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle collision.

Fort Smith police reported Austin Thompson, 31, was driving a motorcycle northbound on Towson Avenue when he reportedly turned in front of another motorist.

Police said a 2006 HHR Chevrolet was in the turning lane to go eastbound on Fresno Street when Thompson turned in front of it while the light was flashing yellow. Authorities said the driver of the Chevrolet did try to stop, but hit Thompson head-on, resulting in his death.
