STILLWATER — Madi Sue Simpson has returned to Oklahoma State to coordinate video and analytics for the Cowgirl softball program.
A 2019 All-American who was part of the leadership core of coach Kenny Gajewski’s first Women’s College World Series team at OSU, Simpson (then Madi Sue Montgomery), started 244 games during the span of her OSU career and was a career .318 hitter. She was a three-time all-region selection and fourtime all-Big 12 honoree.
“We’re excited to have Madi Sue back because of her familiarity with our program and our personnel,” Gajewski said. “As we embark on a new age for video and analytics, we were in search of someone who knew the way we compete and has the same vision for growth as we move forward.”
She finished her career as OSU’s career leader with 244 games played, 244 games started, 740 at bats, 203 runs batted in, 13 sacrifice flies, 488 defensive assists and 45 double plays turned. She hit 31 career home runs, a mark that ranked third in the history of the program at the time of her graduation.
Her .667 slugging percentage in 2018 was the best single-season performance ever for a Cowgirl second baseman.
A three-time academic all-Big 12 selection, she graduated in 2019 with a degree in management and marketing and a minor in sports management.
She stayed on as a graduate assistant during the 2020 and 2021 OSU softball seasons before taking a full-time coaching role at Tulsa, where she was on staff for the 2022 and 2023 campaigns.
“I’m excited to be back with the program that has given me everything,” Simpson said. “I can’t wait to dig into the video analytics to continue to grow this program to win at the highest level.”
She is married to former OSU baseball standout Colin Simpson.
