The annual Back-to-School Roundup on Aug. 5 at the Sallisaw Rodeo Arena drew more than 1,000 people, where more than 600 backpacks stuffed with supplies were given away during the two-hour event.
The fun-filled roundup, now in its ninth year, also included free food, activities, music and even pony rides. This year included two bicycle raffles.
Organizers said the event continues to grow each year, and they have seen “tremendous support” from the community.
The Back-to-School Roundup was made possible by generous donations from local community partners, including Sallisaw Health and Wellness Center, National Bank of Sallisaw, and KI BOIS.
Organizers are looking forward to the 10th annual roundup in 2024, and say they are always seeking community support. If you or your organization would like to be a sponsor for next year, email Heather Silva at hsilva@sallisawok.org for more information.
