By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

BROKEN ARROW — It was a rough end to the opening week of the 2023 season for the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs as they lost all four games they played in the two-day Broken Arrow Tournament, which took place Friday and Saturday.

On Day 1 games on Friday, the Lady Bulldogs lost 5-1 to Oklahoma City Putnam City North and 9-4 to Edmond North, then dropped both of Saturday’s games — losing 9-1 to Edmond Memorial and 9-0 to Dewey.

In the loss to Putnam City North, Amaya Duran’s two-out, RBI double in the opening inning scored Kaydence Young for a 1-0 lead, but PC North responded with a pair of runs in each of the second and fourth innings and a single run in the fifth inning to get the come-from-behind victory — and hand Muldrow its first loss of the season.

Ashley Price

In defeat, Amaya Duran hit an RBI double, Danica Tune tripled and Young, Ashley Price, Jaydin Dean and Heidi McGuire each singled for Muldrow. Dean (2-3) took the loss.

In the loss to Edmond North, the Lady Bulldogs (2-4) once more jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning on an error, allowing Price to score.

However, the Lady Huskies responded with a six-run first inning to take the lead for good at 6-1.

Muldrow cut the deficit to 6-3 in the second inning on an RBI single by Kaira Qualls and an RBI double by Tune, but the Lady Huskies added three runs in the third inning for a 9-3 lead.

In defeat, Tune hit an RBI double, Qualls hit an RBI single and scored once and Price singled and scored once for Muldrow.

Qualls (0-1) took the loss, going the first 2.1 innings with a strikeout. Amaya Duran went the final 1.1 innings with a strikeout.

In the tournament loss to Edmond Memorial, for a third straight game, the Lady Bulldogs scored first on Dean’s sacrifice fly, scoring Amaya Duran, for a 1-0 lead, but Edmond Memorial tied the game in the third inning and put away the game with an eight-run fifth inning.

In defeat, Keenan and Amarie Duran each doubled, Amaya Duran singled and scored once and Dean singled. Dean took the loss, despite fanning three batters in 4.1 innings.

In the tournament loss to Dewey, the Lady Bulldogs were two-hit by the Dewey pitcher. Muldrow’s hits were a pair of singles, one each for Price and Keenan. Dean took the loss, although she recorded two Ks in 3.1 innings.
