Two Sallisaw residents had to be transported to a Tulsa hospital for treatment of their injuries following a motorcycle crash that happened Saturday 17 miles south of Tahlequah.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred around 1:49 p.m. on County Road East 863, just 0.1 mile west of County Road South 590 when a 2007 Yamaha XVS 1300 Motorcycle, driven by Jerry Ross, 38, failed to negotiate a left curve.
According to the accident report, the motorcycle was traveling westbound and veered off the roadway, colliding with a ditch. The impact of the collision was reportedly significant, leaving both occupants injured and requiring immediate medical attention.
Ross was accompanied by his passenger, Tatum Ross, 43, also from Sallisaw. Both individuals were transported to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa by Cherokee Nation EMS, where they were admitted in stable condition. Both sustained head and neck injuries, and their medical teams are closely monitoring their progress.
The primary cause of the collision, as determined by the investigating officers, was attributed to unsafe speed while negotiating a curve or turn. The lack of helmet usage by both the driver and passenger has also been noted.
