8 OSU softball players earn spring academic All-Big 12 honors
STILLWATER — Eight members of the Oklahoma State softball team earned spots on the Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team that was announced Monday.
STILLWATER — Eight members of the Oklahoma State softball team earned spots on the Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team that was announced Monday.
Katelynn Carwile, Scotland David, Chyenne Factor, Kelly Maxwell, Kiley Naomi, Taylor Tuck and Morgyn Wynne were OSU’s first team honorees, with Audrey Schneidmiller securing second-team recognition. For Factor, Maxwell and Tuck, it marked the fourth consecutive year with an Academic All-Big 12 honor. Naomi and Wynne both secured the third such honor of their career.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade-point average while the second team selections hold a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
On the field, the Cowgirls advanced to the Women’s College World Series for the fourth consecutive year in 2023. In the classroom, the Cowgirls of 2023 produced five College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans (Rachel Becker, Factor, Wynne, Carwile and Maxwell) and eight Spring Academic All-Big 12 honorees.
